    DIVISION INFORMATION:

Every player is expected to play 50% of every game unless by their own choice or a parent's request. We do our best to keep team sizes limited to guarantee that every player can get 50% playing time. However, over the years we have received equally as much feedback about teams with too few players (even when the team is at max recommended team size) and teams with too many, Due to vacations and other conflicts not all players show up every week which can leave teams short handed. We also have about 10-15% of registrations after the late fee date starts, so this can be a significant number of players in a division. We typically we need to create two teams at a time to make scheduling work which can then make team sizes too small. Our Board Members and Commissioners do everything we can to make this workout for everyone involved.

DIVISION MAX PER TEAM: GAME CONFIGURATION:
U4-6 6 3 on the field at a time; we allow 7 players per team depending on late registrations, but will create additional teams if possible
    U8 8 4 on the field at a time - NO GOALIES (4v4).
U10 13 6 on the field plus one goalie (7v7) - since the goalie typically plays an entire half, we assume that they will play the field for some time in the other half
U12 17 8 on the field plus one goalie (9v9) - since the goalie typically plays an entire half, we assume that they will play the field for some time in the other half
U14 20 10 on the field plus one goalie with 35 minute halves (11v11). We are playing Interclub through DYSA so we will follow their rules once they are published.
U16 20 10 on the field plus one goalie with 35 minute halves (11v11). We are playing Interclub through DYSA so we will follow their rules once they are published.
U19B 20 This division will play small sided games
U16/19 G ---- 11v11 includes the goalie with 1 center ref and 2 line refs All U19 games are Intraleague with other Delaware clubs. U19 teams are expected to receive schedules of games through DYSA and will travel between close home fields and up to 1 hour for away fields for the 8 week rec season.

Lil Kickers (2014/2015): This division is for both boys and girls. The primary goal for coaches is to get the players on the field and to get used to kicking the ball and have some success by allowing every player to score a goal. The first part of the game time will be warm-ups with the coach playing games. The second part will be 3 players on the field at a time and having the players get used to staying inside the lines on the field. It is up to the coaches as to how much time is spent with warm-ups. 60 minutes for game time each week.

Under 6 (2013): This division is for both boys and girls. Players begin to understand the concepts of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Corner Kicks and Goal Kicks are introduced, but there are no throw-ins at this age. Usually 10-15 minutes of the assigned game time is for warm-ups and activities and then the games are 3v3 with coaches overseeing and making all of the calls. 60 minutes for game time each week.

Under 8 (2011-2012): We offer both Boys and Girls divisions. Players begin to understand positions on the field and continue to work on dribbling and shooting. Passing become more important at this level as the field size increases. Out of bounds are the sideline result in the other team kicking the ball in to restart play. A referee is assigned to each game to make all of the calls. Coaches run their own practices at least one night each week starting at this division. Games consist of 4 10 minute quarters with 5 minutes for warmup, 3 minutes in between periods, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.

Under 10 (2009-2010): We offer both Boys and Girls divisions. Goalies and side-line throw-ins are introduced. A referee is assigned to each game to make all of the calls. Games consist of two 25 minute halves with 5 minutes for warmup, 5 minutes for half time, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.

Under 12 (2007-2008): We offer both Boys and Girls divisions. This is the division where teams begin to travel to Dover for some games. A referee is assigned to each game to make all of the calls. Games consist of two 30 minute halves with 5 minutes for warmup, 5 minutes for half time, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.

Under 14 (2005-2006): We offer both Boys and Girls divisions. This division participates in the DYSA Interclub league. A referee is assigned to each game to make all of the calls. Games consist of two 35 minute halves with 5 minutes for warmup, 10 minutes for half time, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.

Under 16 (2003-2004) We offer ONLY Boys divisions. This division participates in the DYSA Interclub league. A referee is assigned to each game to make all of the calls. Games consist of two 35 minute halves with 5 minutes for warmup, 10 minutes for half time, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.

Under 19 (2000-2002): We offer ONLY Boys divisions. This division participates in the DYSA Interclub league. A referee is assigned to each game to make all of the calls. Games consist of two 35 minute halves with 5 minutes for warmup, 10 minutes for half time, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.

Under 16-19 GIRLS (2000-2003): This groups will play small sided games.
    KEY DATES:

Practices may begin as early as September 3rd. Practice days and times are chosen at the coaches meeting (a sign up sheet will be provided at the meeting).
Practice schedules are determined by the coaches based on field, day and time availability. Early in the season, daylight is still limited, so practice schedules may need to be adjusted, but all of this will be determined by the coaches based on field availability.

First game of the season is Saturday September 15th.

There will be 8 game days during the season for the Lil' Kickers and U6 divisions.

There will be 8 game days for the U8 and older divisions this season. The 3v3 tournament is held on a separate weekend from normal game days. The tournament is free and only open to Delaware Union Recreational Teams, so even though it is not required, we have found that almost 00% of teams field at least one team for this tournament.
    PRACTICES:
For Lil' Kickers there are no practices during the week.Teams will "practice" during the first part of their games on Saturdays.

For U6 there will be one night during the week where all U6 players can participate in an "Open Practice". This is an optional practice and players who show up will be assigned to coaches who will play games activities to give the players the opportunity to improve their skills. The objective at this age is to get kids as many "touches" on the soccer ball as possible. The open practice

For U8+, each coach will conduct at least one practice each week, typically on the same day and time. Coaches will select their practice time and location based on field availability and what works best for their schedule. We do not accept requests for practice nights and times. We are working to obtain practice fields away from Silver Lake in order to try and keep the fields at Silver Lake in the best shape possible for game days.

The practice schedules will be published under Programs > Recreational > Coach's Corner.
    GAME DAY INFORMATION:

For U4-U10, all games are played on Saturdays between 9 AM and 2 PM (ending times may vary depending on the number of teams in each division) at Silver Lake Elementary School.

For U12+, all games are played on Saturdays between 9AM and 4PM. The number of home and away games vary by team. Home games will be played at the fields at Middletown Village or Delaware Union Park.

PLEASE NOTE: Home Teams wear Orange Jerseys and Away teams wear Navy Jerseys.
